Gilbert, Arizona — 11 June 2025 — TOMAR Electronics, Inc., a leading manufacturer of emergency warning and lighting systems, proudly announces its alignment with recent updates to ISO management system standards addressing climate change action. The amendment, issued on February 23, 2024, by the IAF and ISO, invites certified organizations to determine whether climate change is a relevant issue for their management system. If determined to be relevant, organizations are required to incorporate its consideration into their objectives and risk evaluations.
TOMAR Electronics has determined that climate change is indeed a relevant factor within the context of its operations and has responded with a structured, proactive approach to sustainability.
TOMAR’s Climate-Conscious Measures:
- Onsite Renewable Energy Generation: TOMAR operates a 100 kW grid-tied solar power system, significantly offsetting carbon-based energy consumption.
- Energy-Efficient Infrastructure: The facility is equipped with a highly reflective roof to minimize heat absorption and reduce cooling demand.
- Strategic Energy Load Shifting: By leveraging the SRP Energy Management System, TOMAR shifts substantial energy usage to off-peak times, aligning with cleaner, more sustainable energy production periods dominated by nuclear and renewable sources.
- Advanced Cooling Technologies: A chilled-water thermal management system efficiently cools the facility, while a dedicated system maintains server room climate control.
- Minimal Direct Emissions: TOMAR emits negligible greenhouse gases, limited mainly to minor heating during colder months.
- Robust Recycling Program: Materials such as cardboard, wires, solder dross, printed circuit boards, and scrap metals are routinely diverted from landfills and responsibly recycled.
Compliance and Contextual Relevance
The ISO amendment does not mandate climate change considerations by default. Instead, it requires each organization to evaluate whether climate change is relevant to its specific context. TOMAR has determined this relevance and is preparing to meet audit expectations by documenting its assessment and planned actions accordingly.
“Our company takes environmental responsibility seriously,” said Scott Sikora, CEO of TOMAR Electronics. “By recognizing the impacts of climate change and actively integrating sustainable practices into our operations, we aim not only to comply with ISO standards, but to lead by example in our industry.”
